Sport England prepare to announce new strategy

The new strategy seeks to help the people and organisations delivering sport and physical activity to recover from the challenges posed by coronavirus (Covid-19), look beyond them and tackle the biggest issues of the next decade.Sport England will share their new ten-year vision as part of an online event on Tuesday 26 January (10am – 11.45am).

The number of children and young people who were physically active fell during the 2019/20 academic year in England, as first storms and then the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic restricted the type of activities available.Sport England’s latest Active Lives Children and Young People Survey shows teenage boys were hardest hit by the pandemic but girls became more active as they found alternative ways to be active.

44.9% of children and young people (3.2 million) met the Chief Medical Officer guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for an average of 60 minutes or more a day.

Join the Sport and Recreation Alliance on Wednesday 27 January for their annual Fit for the Future Convention, which this year will focus on the hugely important topic of diversity and inclusivity.

The action-packed day will consist of learning workshops, expert speakers and networking time, providing delegates with a fantastic opportunity for lockdown learning.

Speakers include Paralympians Claire Harvey and Sophie Carrigill, ex-England netball captain, Ama Agbeze MBE, Welsh rugby union player, Ashton Hewitt and Alison McGovern MP, Shadow Minister for DCMS.
